If
you wish to send your name and address to Juvenile Diabetes to be put on their
mailing list, or you wish to ask a question about the Midnight Ride or if you
live in the Grand Rapids Metropolitan area and want someone to contact you about
riding with a local GWRRA Chapter, click on one of the three logo's below to
send us an e-mail. P.S. Don't forget your home address and phone
number.
If you are on the Midnight Ride and have
some sort of mechanical problem, put your helmet along side the road to get our
Tail Gunners attention. They will
stop and contact a chase vehicle. If
necessary, one of our chase vehicles will tow you to the nearest phone so that
you can arrange for assistance.
Help everyone get over the
Mackinaw Bridge in good time. Have
your fee ready when you reach the bridge toll booth. $2.50 for bikes, and
$3.50 for a bike with trailer.
Wear layers and bring warm clothes.
Even if the temperature is above 70
when you start out it will drop to around 40 by the time you are near Indian
River.
Take a nap
in the afternoon if you can. If you
are well rested you will be less likely to have problems concentrating during
the ride.
Keep
up with the person ahead of you during the ride. If you drop back that means that all the people behind you have to drop
back also. What that amounts to is
that “accordion or rubber band” effect. Those behind will have to go faster to catch up than those near the
front.
Drive
safe, absolutely no drugs or alcohol are allowed on this ride. Those
foolish enough to ignore this rule will be asked to leave or will be turned over
to one of the police assistants who follow the ride.
Just remember, The Midnight Ride is all about having fun, new and old friends
and raising some funds for JDRF. Last
year Chapter G and it’s supporting chapters raised over $30,000.00
for Juvenile Diabetes.
